What the PS5 Pro really adds
The PS5 Pro has a more powerful GPU: according to Sony, rendering is up to 45% faster than a standard PS5. In optimised games this means sharper images, steadier frame rates and more realistic lighting. PSSR technology also improves sharpness using artificial intelligence.
Bear in mind that the gain depends on the game: PS5 Pro-enhanced titles benefit fully, others less so. To make the most of it you need a 4K TV, ideally with 120 Hz support.
Where the PS5 Standard still wins
- A much lower price for a console that runs every PS5 game.
- A built-in disc drive on our model: handy for boxed or second-hand games and Blu-ray films.
- 1 TB of storage, enough for several big games at once.
Which one should you choose?
Choose the PS5 Pro if you have a 4K TV, want the best picture for big releases like GTA VI and install lots of games (2 TB). At Geniumos, GTA VI is included.
Choose the PS5 Standard if you play on a Full HD TV or on a tighter budget, buy boxed games, or are looking for a first console or a gift for a child.
What about GTA 6?
GTA VI launches on 19 November 2026 and runs on every PS5. The PS5 Pro will generally deliver a better picture, but Rockstar has not yet detailed any specific enhancements. Everything is explained in our guide GTA 6: release date, consoles and pre-order.
